It’s an exciting time for Out There Music Bristol as we look ahead to what we have coming up in the first half of 2016 and as it’s a new calendar year, now is a great time to get involved if you’re thinking about joining a choir or an orchestra! With all our different groups, we can offer something for everyone as we begin working towards our annual highlight that is the Out There Music Summer Concert at St. George’s Bristol on Sunday 22nd May, 2016.
Community Choirs – North and South Bristol
After each of their brilliant Christmas shows, both community choirs are thriving and going from strength to strength but it’s always great to welcome new members! Amongst the music they will be singing this term will be James Bay’s Hold Back The River, A Case Of You by Joni Mitchell and I Will Wait by Mumford and Sons. If you love singing, having a good time, meeting new friends and would like to come along for a free taster session, contact us now!
The new look Children’s Choir has had a great start in the exciting venue of the Performing Arts Centre at Cotham School but we would love to welcome more new members to help develop the choir further. The children are learning about reading music, singing in 2-part harmony and learning about their voices. We have been singing When I Grow Up from ‘Mathilda The Musical’ and A Whole New World from ‘Aladdin’ and for the new term have new music planned including songs from Oliver and Joseph. If your child loves to sing and would like to come along for a free taster session, contact us now!
The Chamber Choir has just performed its Christmas concert at St. Monica’s which was a great success and now we begin new music for 2016 including Arvo Pärt, Paul Patterson, Morten Lauridsen, Tavener and a selection of spirituals and popular music. If you would like to sing in a small but perfectly formed group that performs in beautiful venues, sings a variety of styles of music, focuses on high standards and learning about vocal technique, all the while having a good time, please contact us and for more information on how to organise an audition. People are always welcome to come and sit in at a rehearsal before deciding if they would like to audition. For more information on what the audition involves, please see our FAQs section.
The OTM Bristol Orchestra is on a real roll right now as our annual concert approaches at the end of February but it is always a good time to join as we are frequently beginning new music. Repertoire we’re currently playing includes Tchaikovsky’s March Slave Overture, The Tsar’s Bride Overture by Rimsky-Korsakov, Johann Strauss’s Die Fledermaus and Phantom of the Opera. We have spaces for all orchestral instruments so if you would like to come along for a free taster session, please contact us.
If you want to get involved in any of the groups, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or just come along to one of our rehearsals. To see where and when each group rehearses just click here.
