Friday 24th June, 2016 will go down as a significant date for many people; it was the day they saw the Out There Music Bristol Chamber Choir perform at Halo…..oh, and the UK also voted to leave the EU! Alison’s cake obviously knew about the news….
Joking aside, it was a momentous day for many reasons. As I looked through the programme I had selected months earlier, it seemed I had displayed a certain amount of (completely unintended) prescience with song choices such as Bridge Over Troubled Water, The Continental and Stand By Me. But it really was purely coincidental! As the audience sat around Cabaret style tables and enjoyed the live music with a drink and some food, they also heard music from Eric Whitacre, Paul Patterson and Stanford. It was the last engagement of our year and the Chamber Choir sang with great assurance and displayed much musicality in the diverse programme. Check out a couple of videos from the show on our Facebook page here.
We were also treated to a fantastic set of music from the Velvetones which included songs from Caro Emerald, Depeche Mode and Iggy.
It was a fitting way to round off what has been a great year for Out There Music Bristol and hopefully everybody is looking forward to next year as much as I am. Watch this space!……
