Out There Music Bristol Winter Show – January 14th, 2017
What a great night it was on Saturday. Audience seated cabaret style around round tables, candles, lovely lighting, bar serving mulled wine and most importantly – great entertainment from the Out There Music North Bristol Choir and Orchestra as well as a special guest performance from The Velvetones.
The orchestra performed Corelli’s ‘Christmas Concerto’ (still January so fine!) and a New Year special of The Blue Danube by Strauss. It was a poised and very tuneful performance by the orchestra with everyone’s playing enhanced by the relaxed setting.
Next up were The Velvetones, performing an eclectic set including the classic ‘Ain’t Misbehavin’ as well as Iggy Azalea’s ‘Trouble’. The audience was suitably wowed.
The North Bristol Choir then performed three songs with the band including David Bowie’s ‘Changes’ and the soul classic ‘Say A Little Prayer’ before launching into the finale with orchestra as well of James Bay’s ‘Hold Back The River’, ‘When We Were Young’ by Adele and an electric rendition of the Prince classic, ‘Purple Rain’. And just to finish off, there was a spine tingling encore of ‘Hallelujah’. The choir sang superbly and seemed to get better and better as the set went on.
It was a great night and I’m also pleased to say we raised £105 on the night so thanks again to everybody who was involved.
